Oil of Oregano
Posted on Mon Feb 4 2008
Numerous university studies (Georgetown, Cornell, Tennessee, etc.) and independent research have shown oregano oil to be a potent antimicrobial. It showed, among various plant oils, the greatest antibacterial action against germs such as staph, e.coli and Listeria. It also displayed antibacterial activity against 25 different bacteria and intestinal parasites. Oil of oregano is used as a natural nutritional supplement for the management of acne, allergies, arthritis, asthma, athlete's foot, candida, constipation, croup, digestive disturbances, insect bites, bronchitis, canker sores, colds, flu, earaches, fatigue, gum disease, headaches, menstrual irregularities, muscle pain, parasites, pneumonia, psoriasis, toenail fungus, toothache, seborrhea, strep infection, strep (sore) throat, ringworm, rosacea, sinusitis, and warts. It defeats scabies, lice and ticks by direct application. Antibiotic resistance is a growing health concern. However, drug resistance does not seem to develop against naturally-occurring antibiotics such as garlic and oil of oregano. Oregano oil may be used topically and internally to treat skin disorders. Add a few drops to your shampoo as you are shampooing to wash away dandruff for good. Choose a high-quality oil, such as from organic or wild crafted plant. Be careful not to buy diluted versions. Quality oregano oil is powerful in its pure form so it’s best to dilute it with a carrier such as organic olive oil. An effective and safe ratio is 1 part Oregano oil to 4 parts olive oil. Just a few drops of the essential oil will go a long way. What do you think? |
