Why don’t we use our own bodies to fight cancer rather than those toxic chemicals? Now scientists have shown that we can, by using our own immune systems to fight off the cancerous cells. However, the problem is that our immune system is usually “turned off,” unless activated by an invader. Cancer does not activate our immune system like bacteria or viruses do, so researchers came up with a solution. The goal: to suppress the body’s T-regulatory cells, which normally keep the immune system “turned off.” By doing so, scientists were able to prepare the body to mount a continuous attack against the cancer. This was tested by Dr. Jeffrey Weber in 25 patients with melanoma and out of those 25, 24 were alive after 17 months, and 3 were completely free of cancer. To think, it was once thought that chemotherapy was our only defense, but now we have a less toxic and longer term solution. If these studies are correct, this therapy could also be used in other types of cancer such as breast and kidney cancer, and could be a huge step in cancer therapy around the world. To read more…
